Fasade Wall Panel Frequently Asked Questions
The wall that you plan to install wall panels on needs to be freshly cleaned, free from dust, grease, wax, etc. After you’ve cleaned the wall, be sure that it is dried thoroughly. Acceptable substrates are drywall, plaster or clean, smooth tile. Any damaged, loose or uneven areas must be repaired, patched, leveled and primed. Fill cracks and irregularities with wallboard compound or spackling, then sand smooth with fine-grade sandpaper. Any porous material like highly textured drywall, plywood (or any raw wood without primer), and wallpaper unless removed, sanded and primed, will result in adhesive failure.
To cut the wall panels use a utility knife, scissors or a tin snips.
The preferred method for installing panels is to use a notched trowel (1/4″ x 1/4″ x 3/4″) and apply the adhesive directly to the wall. ACP, the manufacturer of Fasade recommends using PL Premium. Please see the installation guide for specific instructions.
If using the tube adhesive to install the wall panels, 1-1/2 to 2 (10.5-ounce size) tubes covers approximately one 4′ x 8′ wall panel, depending on the size of the bead. We recommend a 1/4-inch bead. Be sure to carefully read the instructions on the back of the adhesive tube before use.
No. Adding and using trims is a personal choice and not required. See product installation guides for ways to finish an edge without trims.
Edge J-Trim for walls is an 48-inch trim piece that is available to you to use on the edge of your wall panels. The trim is not required to be used with the wall panels, but does give the wall panels a nice, finished look. The trim pieces are available in the same colors as the wall panels.
Inside Corner Trim is an 48-inch trim piece that is available to use on an inside corner of your wall panels. The trim is not required to be used, but does give the wall panels a nice, finished look. The trim pieces are available in the same colors as the wall panels.
Once you have your wall panels installed, the panels can be cleaned with soap and water only. Any harsh abrasives will damage the finish on the tiles.
